Our History

The Early Years...

Bernatello's Pizza  started out as Bud's Pizza, a back room tavern pizza in Annandale MN. The pizza took off with sales to many bars and bowling alleys in the 1970's. It officially became Bernatello's Pizza in 1982 when Bill Ramsay bought a 50 percent share of the company. The name change to Bernatello's Pizza occurred as a nod to Bernard Garthe, original founder of the pizza company.

And Then…

The company quickly grew into a frozen pizza manufacturer, servicing supermarkets around the Midwest. The Ramsay family made Bernatello's Pizza a household name. In 1995 Bill Ramsay bought out the other half of Bernatello's from Bud Garthe and officially made it a family owned and operated company.

Building a Legacy...

In 2000, the Ramsay family bought out Roma Pizza, a company located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The company had a strong direct store delivery program, which was exactly what Bernatello's needed to continue to build its business area. The company then launched the Bellatoria brand in 2007. Bellatoria was the premium line Bernatello's needed to continue their rapid growth. Bernatello's merged with Orv's Pizza in 2012, a Wisconsin competitor to the Bernatello's brand. This merger brought an entirely new production facility in Kaukauna, Wisconsin as well as a larger direct store delivery system.

The Company Today...

Bernatello's Pizza is continually growing to be a strong frozen pizza competitor in the Midwest. Brew Pub Pizza was launched in 2013 as a super premium brand and continues to grow with a strong presence in the Midwest markets. Today Bernatello's Pizza continues to be a family owned and operated business with the plan to continue to grow.
